Holding Things Lightly
Mar 15, 2026What if more things in your life could feel and actually be easier? What areas of your life do you currently have a “death grip” on? Is it your thinking? Constantly worrying about your health, family, finances, politics, the future? When was the last time you actually felt truly relaxed? When was the last time you truly felt inspired?
As humans, we often feel the pull to control the few things in our lives that we think we can. We spend a lot of time either worrying or strategizing for the rest of the uncertainty in our lives and the world. Information and opinions bombard us from every direction, leaving us with more uncertainty.
The Law of Non-Resistance teaches us that whatever we resist, persists in our lives. Whatever we are fighting against continues to show up as our perceived adversary. What in your life are you fighting with that really isn’t yours to deal with? Are you carrying problems that belong to another? Where are you delaying making a decision in your own life?
Here are some tips to “hold lightly” onto things:
- Gratitude- for all of it- the good, the bad, the ugly; what is a blessing and what is giving us growth?
- Thinking- how you think about things is how they will show up in your life
- Give up Worry – Florence Schinn describes worry as “faith in evil”; that description completely transformed how I viewed worry in my life and I decided to give it up
- Have Faith in God- it’s pure relief to hand them over to a Higher Power to be solved
- Prayer- have you talked to God about it more than you’ve worried about it? Prayer is available 24/7 and a direct line to your highest available help. It will transform everything in your life!
- Live from your personal values- do you value truth, faith, love, freedom? Are you living those personal values out in real life?
- Attitude- we have full control of our attitudes, perceptions, and choices- leverage them for your good.
- Decision- what if we just DECIDED to hold things “soft as a summer breeze”? Decision energy is powerful and changes everything and it is within your control!
- Saying “NO”- to more conflict, obligations, people who drain us, jobs that destroy you, addictions that distract (entertainment, substances, busyness), whatever does not help you be the best of yourself.
- Saying “YES” to things that inspire, uplift, and energize! When was the last time you actually went and had some FUN? Laugh, find joy and happiness, and LIVE!
