Energetic Travel: The 10 Pillars of Travel

Sep 15, 2025

Many of you know that I love to travel and in my short life; I’ve so far been to 42 countries! It
has been a great experience, filled with many adventures, lots of personal expansion, and
incredible experiences and memories. Do you love to travel as well? Or maybe you like the idea
of it but you haven’t mustered up the courage to go somewhere on your bucket list yet? Maybe
you feel the pressure of time, money, or even figuring out the “how” in this stage of your life.
Here are a few ideas about why travel should be a regular part of our lives, especially from an
“energetic” perspective:
1. Curiosity

When we pick a new place to explore and travel to, we often find ourselves
researching the area, the flora & fauna, the history, the cuisine, or whatever
makes the place unique. Curiosity has an “openness” and learning energy to it
and it uses our conscious brain to take in new ideas and possibilities.

2. Action = Satisfaction

When we travel, whether it’s to our local festival or across the globe, we are
taking a very specific physical action in our lives. When we move out of our
thinking brain and into physical action, we increase our sense of “satisfaction”
because action reminds us that we are keeping a promise to ourselves in doing
something brings “increase” to our lives. This is especially important in this
digital age where we can be lulled into a sedentary and dulled life energetically
and physically.

3. Experiences

One of the BEST things about travel experiences is that no matter what happens
in your life, your experiences never leave you! You can review the trip mentally
and emotionally any time you want! You can look at your pictures and feel like
you are back there in an instant. This is especially helpful when you have seasons
of your life where you cannot travel physically. When I was still caring full time
for my dad who had dementia, I couldn’t leave for more than a day or two.
Looking through my pictures and travel scrapbooks during difficult times brought
me a sense of happiness and relief energetically.

4. Memories

Often when we travel, we go with our beloved family or dear friends. We go to
see specific concerts, festivals, places, and to fulfill bucket-list items. We often
have crazy adventures, difficulties, moments of incredible connection and
laughter, or a specific celebration commemoration, like a milestone anniversary
or event. After the trip is over, these memories are always available to us to
recall and enjoy all over again. Even if there were unexpected difficulties during
our trip, those too become an essential part of the story we re-call and often
spark some growth in us that pays good dividends later. Sometimes the memory
is bittersweet, such as it was the last trip we took with someone before they
passed. Take lots of pictures and celebrate every moment!

5. Expansion/Growth

Travel forces us out of our safe little boxes of the “known”; this energy can be a
scary at times in both good and hard ways. It is an excited scary to go see things
on your bucket list or travel in a way you’ve never done before. It also develops
thinking, problem solving, resourcefulness, expands/corrects/develops beliefs,
and builds confidence. I took a trip to Spain & Portugal with a friend and at the
end of our trip, there was a countrywide strike in Spain for ALL air traffic control
personal! It shut down every airport in Spain for 3 days! We were stranded at
the airport for 3 days and it was a mess! We tried every idea we knew of,
including catching the train from Madrid to Paris to try to get out of Spain, but
nothing worked because thousands of other people were trying to do the same!
All the food counters in the airport were shut down, the bathrooms were
starting to be a mess, no airlines were open or had personal to contact, and
hotels were packed with travelers, plus there were language barriers! This was
prior to cell phones and the internet, so we barely had access to pay phones and
information. etc. Needless to say, I could fill pages with the crazy things that we
endured for 3 days, but thank goodness we had each other, we were resourceful
in what we had, and we made the best of an insane situation that we had no
control over. We also had had an amazing trip up to that point, so reviewing the

good memories helped us break our bad attitudes and sense of helplessness
while we waited the challenge out. I also knew that God was with us and helping
us with so many small miracles along the way.
We also travel for specific experiences, such as a wine tour of Italy, an art tour in
Paris, hiking through national parks, a missionary trip with our church, or even
historical tours of the great cities of the world. What has been your most
impactful experience you have had from travel?

6. Connection

When we travel, we deepen our connection with those we travel with, with
ourselves, and God, especially when we are in nature. I’ve also found that one of
the BEST reasons to travel across the world is to realize that everywhere you go,
people are very similar to each other, versus different. Yes, we might speak
different languages and religions, but all people want to live in peace, to be
happy& loved, wealthy, and for their children to do better than they have. They
too, are innately curious about our lives and we share many human experiences,
such as uncertainty, war, struggle, poverty, family problems, and our own need
for the Divine. It certainly is helpful to see things with your own eyes versus what
the media wants to tell you. I remember being in the Czech Republic and almost
having a whole conversation with someone even though neither of us spoke the
same language. Simple smiles, gestures, and hopeful intent got us both what we
wanted.
7. Frequency/vibration

When we travel, our energetic frequency or vibration increases in positive ways,
which them help attract other possibilities and opportunities into our lives. Every
time I travel, I meet people and have experiences that expand me, excite me,
challenge me, and solidify other things for me. It feels GOOD to be happy, to
explore, to have fun, a break from work, and sometimes the mundane and
discouraging parts of our lives. The higher our frequency and energy, the more of
those good things we attract into our lives. You will never be the same after
traveling! It’s so good!

8. Integration

Travel never leaves us the same and can get us to take action to integrate those
experiences into our lives. Who hasn’t been to Italy and fallen in love with their
breads, cheeses, gelatos, and wines? When you return from Italy, you certainly
find yourself looking for gelato! I remember attending a beautiful strings concert
in Austria in a historic building with the most amazing acoustics. I now play that
CD regularly back home because it resonated with me so deeply! The benefits of

these integrations make deep ripples across all areas of our lives. We are never
the same!
9. Inspiration

Travel inspires us in numerous ways on every level- Spiritual, emotional, mental,
and physical. When I hike around the world, I am challenged physically, inspired
Spiritually, expanded mentally and at peace emotionally. It’s a blessing! When
you travel, what inspiration do you find? A new food you’d like to cook at home?
An appreciation for art you never had until you went to a museum like the
Louvre in Paris? A deeper Spiritual practice after experiencing the beautiful
architecture and history of a church in a place of the origination of your religion?
Or a curiosity to learn more about the flora & fauna in an area and then travel to
that new place?

10. Elevation

I believe that travel and exploration connects us to God in beautiful ways. He’s
created this amazing world for us to enjoy, so get out and explore it! Whether
you are finding new places in your hometown or traveling to far- flung corners of
the world, it’s worth it! It will definitely deepen your gratitude and perspective
and make your life richer in every way.
